It Started With a Child: The Birth of CORE and the Power of Community

Every big movement begins with something small. For CORE, it all began with a single child—my own.
It started at home, in the middle of laughter, challenges, prayers, and countless everyday moments that reminded us of God’s faithfulness. CORE wasn’t born out of a grand plan but out of love: love for our children, love for learning, and above all, love for God who planted this vision in our hearts.

A Mother’s Turning Point
When I realized that my eldest—who has ADHD—couldn’t thrive even in a small progressive school, my husband and I chose the road less traveled: homeschooling.
In most school systems, no matter how well-intentioned, it’s hard to see the whole child. My daughter was bright, curious, and full of potential, yet too often she was seen only through the lens of her struggles. At home, I began to see her differently: creative, compassionate, and capable. Homeschooling gave her the freedom to grow at her own pace and reminded her that she is wonderfully made.

From One Child to Many
This journey didn’t just transform her life—it reshaped how I taught my two other children, each with their own unique needs. I discovered that homeschooling could be flexible, personalized, and yes, even deeply social.
Soon, other parents began asking, “Can you also teach my child? Can you guide us in homeschooling too?” What began with our family grew into seven. That was the birth of CORE—not just as a program, but as a community.

From Struggle to Calling
What started as a desire to help my own child became a calling to serve more families. We dreamed of a space where children wouldn’t be boxed in by labels, where parents felt supported, and where learning was filled with faith, flexibility, and joy.

And so, CORE Homeschoolers Hub was born—not just as an educational program, but as a family of families. A place where every child’s individuality is celebrated, where parents find encouragement and guidance, and where every lesson points back to the truth that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Why Community Matters
Homeschooling is often seen as an isolated journey, but at CORE we’ve learned that community makes all the difference. Children don’t just learn from books—they learn from one another. Parents find strength knowing they are not alone.

Homeschooling is more than an educational choice—it’s a life choice. It’s about nurturing the whole child, strengthening families, and walking alongside others who share the same vision.

Looking Ahead
Looking back, I realize this was never just about education. It was about answering God’s call to steward the gifts He has given us—our children, our skills, and our time.

It all began with one child. And from that one child, a community was born. Because while homeschooling starts at home, it truly comes alive in community.

Today, CORE Homeschoolers Hub continues to grow, not because of our own strength, but because of His grace. And we pray that every family who joins us experiences this same truth:
That education is not just about academics. It’s about the heart, the spirit, and the home.
